How to Treat Clothes Moths
Clothes moths can be a really tough problem. Unfortunately, the solution is not easy.
The first thing you need to do is to remove all the clothes and other items that are stored in all the closets and all the dressers. You can do this one closet or one dresser at a time. After you have everything out, you need to thoroughly vacuum the carpeting that may be in the closets. You also need to thoroughly vacuum all cracks and crevices in closets and in dresser drawers.
It is also a good idea to wash all surfaces in closets and dressers. The carpet in the closets should be shampooed.
Now treat all cracks and crevices in closets and dressers with Bedlam Plus Aerosol. Then, lightly spray some on the closet carpet as well. In dresser drawers, make sure that you treat all the places where parts of the drawer come together.
You also need to either wash or dry clean all the clothes that you took out of the closets and dressers.
When you put clothes back in the closet, make sure that they are loosely hung.
Finally, hang a pheromone moth trap in the two closets where you are seeing the most activity. It is important not to use more than one trap in a room, or more than two traps in your entire home. If there are too many pheromones in the home, this will confuse the moths, and they may not go into the traps. I will give you a link to the traps below. I recommend replacing the traps about every 4 weeks.
It is important to understand that the moths do not damage your clothing or whatever fabric is involved. In fact, the moths do not even have mouths. Their only function in life is to mate and have offspring. It is those offspring, or larvae, that are doing the damage. The idea behind the traps is that the moths will be attracted to the traps and get caught before they can produce offspring. No offspring, no more infestation.
While you can carry clothes moths into your home with you, it is also possible for them to fly in through open doors and windows. Therefore, it is a good idea to do an exterior treatment of your home every 60 to 90 days. I have a video on how to do that, and I will place a link below.
